Massive and highly elaborate, antique Japanese Meiji period sectional bronze censer; of tiered form, the body with figural scene to one side and cranes amid pines to the other, each reserved on a densely patterned ground; flanked by two handles in the form of writhing dragons, and set above a border of elephant masks; further surmounting a waisted stand, decorated in high-relief dragon and cloud motifs, set upon five scrolled legs and raised circular base; the cover with an eagle perched atop a rocky outcrop, its wings spread; H: 6' 6" (approx.)
