Very elaborate antique French bronze and porcelain ink stand by Medaille D' Argent; this large and exceptional ink stand is comprised of a forward section of elaborately designed shell form bronze base with elaborately incised designs and sprawling vines attached to gilt bronze section holding covered punte box and covered quill holders, each upper section and cover with allover designs, bases polished smooth, the central ink well body made of porcelain, the center cylindrical section with blue painted body and gilt repeating geometric designs terminating in larger eagles head ink well with some original gilt remaining, the cover of the inkwell attached with safety chain, ink reservoir cover with elaborately designed top, finial with makers mark - "ENCRICR POMPP BOOUET VREVETE 1839 Medaille D' Argent, Paris", interior of inkwell with heavy porcelain weight with attached mechanism used to force the ink out through the mouth, atop the ink stand an elaborate decorative finial with floral designs and mask;
