A framed Egyptian painted linen panel fragment with name of Ramesses II, Late Period, Circa 664 - 30 BC. An attractive panel, the central scene depicts the god Anubis standing over a mummy lying on a bier, an ibis at his feet. Above Anubis are two vertical column of hieroglyphic text, to left are five more columns of text with two vertical rows below. To right, five horizontal rows of text and a complete row of text at the top and bottom. Above it all is a cartouche containing the prenomen of Ramesses II ÒUsermaatre, Setepenre (Ra"s mighty truth, chosen of Ra)" with kingly titles before, another cartouche to left unclear; 16 1/4" x 14 1/2" (approx.), mounted in a 20" x 18" frame
