COMPLETE MARTIAN METEORITE
Tissint - Achondrite (Martian, olivine-phyric shergottite)
Tata, Morocco
Fewer than 0.1% of known meteorites hail from Mars, but one of the other factors that makes the Tissint such an incredibly significant fall is its freshness: unlike those meteorites that have lain undiscovered for years, sometimes for thousands of years, this recent fall has been relatively uncontaminated by the Earth's soil, water or bacteria, having occurred only in 2011. This is an excellent little specimen with a complete fusion crust of fantastic texture and shimmering gun metal patina, weighing approximately 5.7 grams and measuring approximately 3/4 inches wide.
