RUSSIAN METEORITE
Sikhote-Alin - iron, coarse octahedrite
Paseka, Primorskiy Kray, Siberia, Russia

This is a particularly fine cabinet specimen from the famed Sikhote-Alin fall that caused an explosion in the morning skies over Siberia in early 1947. The large meteorite body broke up twice during its fall to Earth, with only the higher break-up resulting in specimens with the fascinating surface texture seen here, with large, well-defined thumbprint-like regmarglypts and shimmering gun metal patina, weighing approximately 201 grams and measuring 2 1/2 inches wide.
