PALLASITE SPECIMEN
Seymchan - Iron, coarse octahedrite/pallasite (PMG)
Hekandue River, Magadan District, Russia

Although first discovered in 1967, it was not until 2004 that another small portion of this fall was found to contain the rare olivine crystals characteristic to pallasites. This is a fine little specimen, a 1 1/2 inch long slice with splashes of silvery metal amidst the mass of deep yellow "space gems", including one beautifully translucent example, weighing approximately 21 grams.
