MAGNIFICENT RUBY CRAB WITH JEWELRY SUITE
Artist/Designer: Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio

Inspired by the fable "Ill príncipe Granchio"/ "The Crab Prince" by Italian author Italo Calvino, Aparicio created this bedazzling and functional jewelry art object. This is a story about a forbidden love represented by the secret jewelry hiding in the object; a mysterious way to entice a lover.

The entire crab was hand carved from an exceptional sized ruby from Tanzania, weighing over 75,000 Cts. in rough.

Looking closely into the Prince Crab arms, one can detach several magnificent jewelry pieces. From the right arm you can grab a large ruby ring accentuated with gold and diamonds. From the left arm a ruby pendant which could be used together with the pebble ruby necklace resting on top of the obsidian base in which the crab stands. From the left and right arms, one can detach two triangular shaped earrings also in ruby with gold and diamonds. Finally, to top the design, the "Principe" body actually hides its functionality and just requires a Princess to grab it and use it as an evening handbag clutch.

Specifics: rubies set in jewelry together approx. 4000 Cts.; diamonds together approx. 5.0 Cts.; 8" x 8" x 5" (approx.); together with a display stand of rockery motif on an obsidian slab encircled with gold vermeil mount
